Hoping to get out early morning well before sunrise to get a trolley set up, and get some macs. Fingers crossed there will be some action. Do you guys think the water is getting too warm now for kings and macs? Some sites are showing 80-82 for water temp. |

I believe they move further up the bay as I have slayed them around the Gandy area in the middle of August |

And snapper too. |

Picnic Island park is great for snook for shore fishermen |

Try the entire length of the pier. Moving baits and a reaction bite tend to work well when it's warmer. Trout and pompano might be in the shallower areas. No reason to drive to the end as soon as you get there unless you're going for snapper or determined to set a trolley. Looks like a decent incoming tide at sunrise. Definitely potential to catch something. |

Last week I made it outta work early enough to cast net baits off the flats on nsp and had a few tiny 3 inch mullet and tiger chubs… maan when I tell you I never had baits get ate so fast.. as soon as those little fish would hit the bottom they would get smashed.. managed a limit on snapper ranging 12-15in and got a small red and a small gag grouper within a hour n a half… beginning of incomin tide. They are there just bein picky, bait is important. |

Although I do feel like the water is too warm for the kings, they were catching Bonita in may and everything does feel like it’s a little bit behind this year.. atleast that’s what I’ve been telling myself lol. But anything is worth a shot and at the very least there’s always a chance of a Lone Ranger kingfish or cobia that wandered just a little too close to the ole pier and can’t resist that blue runner .. |

Sorry for the late follow up. As a PSA, if you see someone walking around on someone else’s stuff, tell them to F off. Cost me a $200 net because they had no sense of giving people space, and wanted to fish on my corner. |

The action is spotty as it seems they are traveling in pairs.. drift cut baits, wait a little while, hook a Mack which always has one single follower, get another bait out, hook another one, then wait a while again… that was my experience atleast. There was about a 30 minute window where the bites were consistent and every cast. This was all on ssp past the bait shop on incoming tide, saw a couple more once the water started moving on outgoing then action died completely around 2pm |

Sunrise til 9am is my window, on a good day if I hit them early I'm done by 8. We've used the cut bait method many times, me, I like a bobber rig with a split shot to get deep fast, bigger macks. It's best if you have a couple buddies along, you got good coverage with that |

I’ve noticed that with rain cooling down the bay, more mackerel tend to be on the bite. |
